Hunts Elk Hunts In the distance you hear the bugling of a bull elk and start with your own bugling to bring your prey closer. Shortly the encounter becomes reality as you stand a mere 50 yards away from the most magnificent animal you have ever seen. As you ready your rifle, your muscles tighten…your heart starts to race…you fire. The animal turns to run, but it’s too late. After a short battle, it accepts its fate. Unfortunately, with the difficulty of obtaining a permit to hunt elk or even finding a quality trophy bull elk with a good guide, this story will never become reality for most hunters. In fact, only 4% of the people who go elk hunting out west ever bag a trophy elk. We have had 100% success for elk hunts for the last 25 years! Compare that to hunting out west. In addition, High Adventure Ranch is home to one of the finest herds of trophy elk in the United States. By maintaining a quality breeding program where we continually introduce different genetics and limiting our hunts, we are able to build larger trophy animals for you, the trophy hunter. Trophy Bull Elk Hunting at High Adventure Ranch from 6x6 bulls on up will commonly carry a gross score of 400+. Typically, we have 3 x 3 bulls to Royal 6 x 6 and 7 x 7 Imperials and man 8 x 8's, 8 x 9's and larger bulls scoring well over 400. It is our plan to reduce our numbers this season (September through March) by 50 bulls on a first come, first serve basis. We are the oldest and largest hunting ranch east of Texas with 5 square miles of land and 65 miles of game trails. All methods of hunting accepted including bow, handgun, rifle and black powder. Due to the increasing popularity of elk meat and our herd management needs, we sometimes offer special discounts on cow elk hunts. Russian Boar Hunts & Razorback Hog Hunts While Southern hog and boar hunting usually requires the hunter to take the first hog that he sees, High Adventure Ranch encourages hunters to go for the truly impressive kill. Hunters are free to take the hog of their choice, but we discourage killing Russian Boar under 200 pounds and Razorback Hogs under 150 pounds. Most boar hunters who have been to our ranch find our philosophy of hunting wild boar far more exciting and rewarding than anything they have experienced before. As one of the smartest animals on the planet, wild boars or hogs represent one of our most exciting hunts at the ranch. Although boars do not possess great eyesight, they have a keen sense of smell and very fiery attitude. In fact, they have a reputation for wanting to hunt you as much as you want to hunt them. Combine this aggressive nature with the fact that boars have a very thick breast plate and many hunters find that they need multiple shots to take this animal down. Some of our guests who are familiar with hunting wild hogs (usually from previous hunting in the southern part of the country) may find that hog hunting at our ranch is a totally new experience. We offer several methods of boar hunting to fit the needs and interest of every hunter here at High Adventure Ranch. We never use horses because they tend to flush the game too far afield and while some boar hunters like to use dogs, we find that they tend to attack each hog that they come upon and often suffer excessive blood loss from wounds and cuts inflicted by the hog. The use of dogs also does not allow the hunter to be selective with his hunting. Exotic Game Hunts In addition to the hundreds of elk, whitetail deer, and boar that roam our land, High Adventure Ranch is also home to a wide variety of exotic animals, many of which can be hunted year round. Exotic Deer Hunts & Antelope Hunts While whitetail deer are the most commonly hunted deer on our ranch, we have plenty of other quality trophy deer from which to choose. * Axis Deer * Sika Deer * Fallow Deer * Red Stag * Blackbuck Antelope Sheep & Ram Hunts Our hills are home to a wide variety of exotic sheep that make great trophy mounts. Listed below are some of our more popular sheep and ram hunts. * Texas Dall Rams * Mouflon Rams * Spanish Goats * Hawaiian Black Rams * Aoudad Rams * Corsican Rams * Jacob's Four Horns Trophy Deer Hunts The deer hunting adventure at High Adventure Ranch begins with preserving high quality herd and trophy bloodlines in a most natural environment. Bound only by an endless thirteen mile perimeter, all of our deer are free to retain their natural instincts. Free to roam and reproduce uninterrupted, these deer live in an area divided only by small springs and ephemeral streams which form the bluegrass and wooded ridges of the mature Ozark foothills in Missouri. Of course, effective game management means keeping herd numbers at reasonable levels. This is where you, the trophy hunter comes in. Only the mature trophy deer that we are dedicated to producing will be harvested. Select hunting subsidizes our trophy preservation efforts and provides you with the most fascinating big game hunting available in the Midwest. Be prepared for a fair chase. These deer are born and raised in a natural environment with virtually no human contact. For that reason, High Adventure Ranch is geared to the seasoned hunter…the kind of hunter who would allow his young son the first shot on a 10-point buck…the hunter who would pass up an inferior animal in easy range…the trophy hunter. Most importantly, all of our hunts are backed by our No Game, No Pay policy and require a non-resident license fee of only $5. Whitetail Deer Hunts Trophy Whitetails represent our most popular deer hunt and the ranch is loaded with a large number of 8 point bucks or better with scores ranging from 80 to 200. Management Whitetail Hunts are available on occasion as part of our effort to maintain trophy Whitetail. Please call for availabilities and pricing. Red Stag Hunts The “Monarch of the Mountain,” the Red Stag is the most beautiful antlered animal on the planet. Axis Deer Hunts The Axis Dear is a beautiful dear featuring large barrel shaped antlers and exquisite coloration. Fallow Deer Hunts The unique palmate antlers of this exotic deer make it a prize for any trophy hunter. Sika Deer Hunts This Japanese exotic deer features a unique rack and an odd sound. Mule Deer Hunts These popular deer offer exciting hunts for trophy and record book monster bucks. Buffalo “Bison” Hunts Imagine stalking an animal with the raw size and power of American Bison. The idea of taking a trophy of this magnitude has been only a dream to most hunters until now. Our buffalo hunting area is vast allowing you to stay back, as buffalos are easily agitated and dangerous when approached closely. Having a taste similar to beef but with a fraction of the fat, one of the best aspects of our bison hunts is the meat that you’ll take away. Bring a lot of coolers because you’ll be taking home plenty of bison steaks, roasts, and burgers with this hunt. Bison also provide very attractive mounts and hides that can be used as rugs, bedspreads, or wall d?cor. We work with a local taxidermist, who will professionally mount the head and tan the hide at a very reasonable price. Youth Hunts At High Adventure Ranch, we love to get youths involved in hunting and introduce new, young hunters to the challenges, enjoyment and thrills of the sport of hunting. We believe that it is necessary for the guide to take the time to explain the special characteristics of a specific animal and answer any questions that a young hunter might have. We consider it our duty to discuss animal habitat, the effect of a clean environment on wildlife in the future, and gun safety. Safety is the always the first priority! Children under the age of 18 are required to be accompanied by an adult. We do not require that children have a Hunter's Safety Certificate, however we HIGHLY RECOMMEND all of our younger hunters complete a hunter's safety course. Hunts for Handicapped and Disabled Hunters At High Adventure Ranch, we cater to whatever needs you may have. Whether you are handicapped and in a wheelchair and need to hunt from a truck or perhaps you can only walk short distances, our experienced guides will assist you out in the hunting field to insure you get that trophy animal of a lifetime or perhaps fill your freezer with venison. Both our Lodge and one of our cabins have ramps for easy wheelchair access. The lodge has one room with a large bathtub and the handicapped accessible cabin has a walk-in shower. The bathrooms currently have normal sized doors and are not setup with rails. At High Adventure Ranch we treat everyone the same, from a child hunting for the first time to a handicapped hunter in a wheelchair to an experienced 72 year old hunter. We believe in making memories that will last a lifetime! Accommodations While visiting High Adventure Ranch, you'll be staying in one of our 5 cabins, our lodge, or our new lake house or loft.
