Welcome to ALGAR Private Hunting Lodge 60.000 acres in Neuqu?n, Patagonia Argentina. Our 60,000 acre private ranch is located just 60 miles north from the beautiful city of San Carlos de Bariloche and it has the perfect habitat for the Red Stag, which are found in abundance and free roaming. The scenic and hilly terrain is surrounded by rivers and furrowed by streams. You will find this country very vast and open, making it easy to spot game from high vantage points. The hunting season for Red Stag opens at the end of February and lasts up to the end of June. We are proud to own the third world largest population of Pere David’s deer, and Algar is the only place in the world where Pere David’s deer can be hunted free range. Accommodations are world class; our lodge has been totally rebuilt last year and it’s limited to six master bedrooms with all the comfort of a five stars hotel. There is also a chef who prepares delicious home-style and international meals. Wines, beer and liquors are always available. Algar Ranch is located Province of Neuqu?n, Patagonia Argentina. 65 miles from the beautiful cities of San Carlos de Bariloche (Province of R?o Negro) and of San Mart?n de los Andes (Province of Neuqu?n). Our services include: · Reception at Ezeiza International Airport in Buenos Aires and transfer to the domestic airport to take the flight to San Carlos de Bariloche, or transfer to the hotel in Buenos Aires if the hunter wishes to stay some days in Buenos Aires city previous to the hunt. Also transfer from the hotel in Buenos Aires to the Domestic airport. Reception in San Carlos de Bariloche and transfer to the ranch. · All transfers are done by people our bilingual staff and with our own vehicles. · Advice and booking in hotels in Buenos Aires City or in San Carlos de Bariloche with preferential fares in the case the hunters/guests want to spend some additional days for tourism. · Reservations for shows in the city of Buenos Aires (we do recommend specially Tango shows). · If you plan to stay some days in Buenos Aires City previous or after the hunt, we can keep your guns with us so that you don't have the worry to leave them at the hotel. Gun rental. If you don't want to bring your own rifle, we offer a wide selection of guns (all scopes are Zeiss and Swaroski). FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS When is the hunting season? The hunting season starts March 1st through July 30th, which are the fall/winter months in South America. Approximately how much game will be seen each day (or what is the area population of the game species pursued)? Every day you should see shootable game. Game is very abundant. What is the success ratio? Depends on species being hunted. Red Stag 90%, Fallow Deer 90%, Blackbuck 100%, Wild Goat 100%, Mouflon 90%, Multi-Horned Sheep 95% and Wild Boar 70%, Water Buffalo 90%, Scottish Black Face 100%. What other species can I hunt if I fill my primary permit in the first day or two? Wild Goat, European Wild Boar, Fallow Deer, Blackbuck Antelope, Multi-Horned Sheep, Mouflon, Alpine Ibex, Water Buffalo, Scottish Black Face and Pere David's Deer. Will you assist me with all the formalities related to my trophies? Yes, of course. We'll be in charge of all the paperwork related to your trophies, so that you can have everything ready when you return home. We always recommend that our hunters take their trophies home with them as personal luggage. What time of year does each game species have its best horns, antlers or fur? From 20 February up to the end of July for all species. What are the lodging accommodations? Beautiful new lodge, all with private rooms with individual bathrooms and hot showers. Is the hunt guided or self-guided? Fully guided by very experienced guides. What?s the food and eating arrangements? You will eat in the dining room some deliciously prepared native homestyle cooking. Are foreign inoculations needed? No. What about a visa, a passport? U.S. Citizens need only a passport, others contact your nearest Argentine Consulate. What language do the guides and lodge people speak? Predominantly Spanish but an interpreter is available. What?s the temperature like? You can expect temperatures from approximately 65 to 80 degrees (F), depending on the time of year. What are the hunting arrangements: number of daylight hours hunted, move to hunt site by foot or truck, tree stand or ground bling hunting, etc.? This is a five day hunt and the most advisible thing to do is to use the good horses the ranch owns, but just in case the hunter specially asks for (e.g. for physical conditions or just by his preference) he can also be driven to the different places by truck, making the final approach by foot. How much hassle is there with locals or local officials (farmers, villagers, game wardens, etc.)? None whatsoever. You will be hunting in private property. How much rain can I expect for the time of year I?m going? Some rain is to be expected since the weather is unpredictable, we recommend you bring light rain gear. Do I need a permit to bring my gun into Argentina? Yes. You need to contact your nearest Argentine Consulate to obtain the application. Do I need a hunting license? Yes. This will be arranged by the outfitter upon your arrival. What type of clothes do I need to bring? You need to dress as if you were going on a Rocky Mountain Hunt in the month of October. Do I need special equipment? We highly recommend a good pair of binoculars and a pair of comfortable hunting boots. Are there snakes at the Ranch? Absolutely not. What about travel arrangements? You must ask your travel agent for a roundtrip airfare from the United States to Buenos Aires, and also for the roundtrip domestic flight from Buenos Aires to San Carlos de Bariloche. RECOMMENDED CLOTHING AND MISCELANEOUS We strongly recommend that all our hunters bring with them the following pack list: - A good pair of binoculars - Camera, film, batteries - Winter gloves - Sunglasses - Winter underwear - Winter cloth cap - One pair of warm shoes - One pair of light shoes - Sweat absorbing socks - Extra socks - Wind-breaking jacket - Hunting jeans/shirt/vest - Elbow and knee pads - High SPF sunscreen - Personal effects (include any prescribed medicine)
